What Your Sun
Sign Doesn't Tell You
the Twelve Houses
Knowing your Sun sign is
a good start . . . but there are other things that modify or add to the traits of your
Sun. One of these is the house your Sun is in.
You may be familiar with
the way the chart circle is divided into twelve parts called 'houses.' Each house
represents a different "area" of your life. i.e. children, earned income,
partnerships, home, career, etc. It is said the sun "lights up" the house it
resides in. In other words, it makes the affairs of that house more important to you.
Keeping in mind the
traits of your Sun, consider these additional characteristics. Click on the house your Sun
is in: If you don't know the house location of your Sun, you can send for a Horoscope and Guide To
Understanding Your Horoscope.
SUN IN THE FIRST HOUSE
This is a good placement for the sun. It gives you an additional
dose of independence, regardless of your sun sign. It's especially good for Pisces, Virgo,
and Taurus, the quieter and less self-assured of the signs.
With your sun in the
first house, you want to be on your own. That doesn't mean you don't want a long term
relationship, but you need one that allows you enough freedom to go out in the world and
do your thing. You have a lot to offer. You are ambitious and have the ability to rise
above your previous station to a position of trust and responsibility.
If your sun is in Aries,
Leo or Sagittarius, you have enough strength and assertiveness to really go after what you
want. Unfortunately, women with a lot of strength in their charts are still sometimes
perceived as unfeminine or too combative. You have probably had to learn to tone down your
personality to fit in, especially at work.
SUN
IN THE SECOND HOUSE
With the sun in the second house, you have a
good chart for making money! You seem to be in the right place at the right time to
further your career and get a raise and promotion.
One thing you might
notice is a tendency to overbuy. Your friends wonder how you can afford some of your
purchases, and so do you at times. Somehow, probably unconsciously, you feel that buying
something will heal whatever isn't working in your life. And if you can acquire something
solid with real value, that makes life worth living for you.
Also, you have inner
resources which help you through the hardest experiences life can throw at you. You don't
wilt under pressure. In fact, you are the one everyone turns to for strength and you never
let them down.
SUN IN
THE THIRD HOUSE
With this placement of your sun, you will be in
some type of communications. You read voraciously and your cell phone is your lifeline.
This is perfect for
sales or promotional-type jobs, also teaching. You have the ability to uplift and
enlighten others. Home-schooling your children isn't for everyone, but you could, if you
wanted to.
You will do a lot of
traveling, both for business and pleasure. You will be in your car a great deal because
you don't have one place where you work everyday, at least not for long periods.
Circumstances dictate lots of short trips for one reason or another.
Your mind is resourceful
and creative. Your education never ends, whether in or out of school.
SUN
IN THE FOURTH HOUSE
You love your home and it doesn't matter if it
is a mansion or a one-bedroom apartment. Your security is in the comfort and beauty you
create for yourself and your family.
Speaking of family, you
are always deeply involved. You are close to at least one of your parents and spend a lot
of time with them. You are likely to inherit something substantial from them, most likely
real estate.
This is a good placement
for success in real estate, land, houses, property and occupations connected with them.
SUN IN
THE FIFTH HOUSE
Lucky you, this is the best placement for
romance! You have a lot of appeal and charisma. You always have someone asking you out or
paying attention to you. If you've every wondered why your friends have 'down' times when
they have no 'love interest' in their lives and you always have somebody, this is the
reason.
If you are married and
want children, this is an excellent house placement for you. Children light up your life
and are a special joy.
If your sun sign is in
earth (Taurus, Capricorn or Virgo), this placement of your sun lifts your personality and
makes you less conservative. If your sun sign is in fire (Aries, Leo or Sag), you might
watch your speculative investments or gambling. You might just have a little too much
confidence.
SUN IN
THE SIXTH HOUSE
With a sixth house sun, you take your health
very seriously. Always the one with the scoop on the latest diet or fitness program, you
are a veritable reference source for your friends. You seem to understand intuitively how
to safeguard health and avoid illness. In fact, the sun well-aspected in the sixth house
indicates that you can do great work in assisting to relieve the sufferings of others.
It is also great for
work, which you also take very seriously, TOO seriously if you are a Capricorn or Virgo.
You'll be making a bigger effort than most to see that your work doesn't take over your
life and interfere with your relationships.
If you have employees,
you are a tolerant and generous boss, but you really know how to get the most from your
workers.
SUN
IN THE SEVENTH HOUSE
With your sun in the house of partnerships, the
accent is on "we" not "me." You might work alongside your husband in a
family business. Or you may open your own business with a partner.
As with a first house
sun, a seventh house sun person is destined to be out in the world doing something,
interacting with people, etc. Power lies in relationships for you. If you stay home with
your children in the early years, you will be back in the workforce as soon as you feel
you can.
Counseling or social
work is a good occupation for you, as is anything in the field of beauty products, jewelry
or home decorating. Your own home is beautiful and tasteful, even with modest resources.
If you have the money, it's a showpiece.
SUN
IN THE EIGHTH HOUSE
If you are born with your sun in the eighth
house, you are a lot quieter and keep more to yourself than your sun sign would indicate.
If you are a Scorpio, then you are extremely withdrawn. Even the outgoing fire signs
(Aries, Leo and Sag) can be quiet with this placement.
More skeptical than
most, you have to have something proved to you before you believe it. You don't go along
with the crowd. You are your own person and not easily influenced.
Inheritance and wills
are highlighted. This is a good placement for inheriting from someone.
You are no pollyanna.
You see things in stark reality.
You are capable of
making a complete lifestyle change and personal transformation at some point. You can
overcome anything once you make up your mind.
SUN IN
THE NINTH HOUSE
Even the earth suns, when placed in this house,
have a great sense of humor. You like to laugh and are the first one to admit that being
able to laugh at your troubles is what gets you by when life has turned hard on you.
You are a philosopher at
heart, always trying to figure out why we are here and what happens next. You are not
content to follow blindly along in the religion in which you were raised. You may wander
all over the map before you find the belief system that supports you.
This is the house of
publishing, and you sun here opens up a whole arena of possibilities for you. You may work
in publishing or a related field. If your sun is in Sag or Gemini, writing and possibly
self-publishing would work for you. Also teaching.
You will probably travel
abroad at least once in your lifetime and you could spend long periods of time in another
country.
SUN IN
THE TENTH HOUSE
Look out world, here you come! Your basic drive
is towards success that brings, at the least, significance, and at best, prestige and
power. With your sun in the house of careers, the emphasis for you is in the world at
large. You are destined to do something you will be known for.
You may work for the
government or big business. You do well in a large company and you aren't afraid to work
your way up. Some of you tenth house suns will go into politics.
In the olden days, this
sun placement would be described as a woman with an important or successful husband. Thank
goodness that today we know we don't have to give up our own success to rely on a man.
Remember: Behind every
successful woman, there's a man sulking in the background!
SUN
IN THE ELEVENTH HOUSE
You have a lot of friends! What a great chart
for networking. With your sun here, you will be involved in pursuing your goals and
objectives, and your friends and acquaintances will play a significant part. You'll
probably never see the inside of an employment agency, for you will secure all your jobs
through your many friends and contacts.
The eleventh is called
the house of your 'fondest hopes and dreams.' You have a deep desire to find significance,
and to take up a cause. You want to change the things that are wrong with society, even
the world. You will combine the qualities of your sun sign with the ability to work with
others for something you believe in.
SUN
IN THE TWELTH HOUSE
Wherever you decide to make your mark, you will
be the unseen power that makes it all happen. You don't seek the limelight. Working behind
the scenes is where you are most comfortable.
You have some of those
Pisces traits that make you want to root for the underdog and help anyone in trouble. You
may have a close connection with those who are limited or afflicted in some way. The
medical field, social work, volunteering . . . there are many ways you can get
satisfaction out of serving your fellow man.
You are happiest when
you can be creative. You have an affinity for music and the arts and an innate
understanding of their healing power. Indulge yourself freely in the kind of music that
enriches and nourishes your life. Try meditation and guided imagery. You have great
psychic ability if you tap into it.
